The love letter is a letter written by Wu to declare his feelings for Misako. It was intercepted by Master Chen who tempted Lord Garmadon into signing the letter to win Misako's heart.
History[]
Prior to the Tournament of Elements[]
Around the time of the Serpentine War, Wu and Garmadon met Misako and all three of them became good friends. Over time both Wu and Garmadon started expressing feelings for the same girl. However the three parted ways to prepare for the upcoming war between humans and serpentine. During that time Wu wrote a love letter for Misako, intending to reveal his love for the latter. However, the letter was intercepted by Master Chen, Garmadon's teacher. Knowing the latter also had feelings for Misako and having taught him that cheating can become an advantage in life, Chen tempted his young student into signing the letter so the words would seem like it was Garmadon who wrote them, allowing him to win Misako's heart. Hesitant, Garmadon did not want to betray his brother and the woman he secretly loved with a lie but with both Chen's manipulation and the venom of the Great Devourer slowly corrupting him, Garmadon reluctantly agreed, which allowed him to succeed into winning Misako's heart, marrying her and having a son, at the cost of this decision haunting him for the rest of his life.
Tournament of Elements[]
Spellbound[]
While looking for Nya, Garmadon tells Lloyd how he fell in love with his mother, and told him the letter was initially from Wu, to Lloyd's surprise. Garmadon admits that he isn't proud of what he did, but that he has no regrets, otherwise Lloyd wouldn't be standing here, as they speak.
Other appearances and mentions[]
The Corridor of Elders[]
Happy that his plan is going well and amused by Garmadon's threats, Chen hacks the city's airwaves and reveals to Wu, Misako and Skylor that the love letter that Garmadon "wrote" all these years ago to win Misako's heart was actually written by Wu, shocking both Wu and Misako. Angered and betrayed, Wu yelled at his brother for his action before being separated from him by Skylor. Later, noticing his mother and his uncle shunning Garmadon, Lloyd asks his father if they know about the letter, to which Garmadon's sadly nods.

Trivia[]
- Lloyd's existence was indirectly caused by the Overlord as it was the latter's influence through the Great Devourer who bit Garmadon, corrupting him with its venom that convinced him to sign his name on Wu's letter to Misako, thus causing Misako to choose Garmadon.
- Chen is also responsible for these actions because he intercepted the letter and manipulated Garmadon into signing it.
- It's unknown how Chen found or acquired the letter.
