“You didn't always live alone in this cave, did you? There were more of your kind.” |
— Cole to Krag in "Krag's Lament" |
Yeti are ape-like creatures that exist in the Never-Realm. There were many, but nearly all were killed by the Ice Emperor and the Blizzard Samurai.
History
Prior to the series
During the Long Winter, the Ice Emperor attacked the Yeti for unknown reasons. At the end of the genocide, all of the Yeti were killed except for Krag who somehow survived.[1]
The Traveler's Tree
When Cole tells Uthaug and Boma that he's going to visit the Traveler's Tree, they warn him of Krag. Cole questions the theory of Krag existing and Boma tells Cole to listen to the fearsome sound of the Krag, though it's a sound created by Uthaug. After hearing this nonsense, Cole continues his pursuit.
While Cole is walking, he is "attacked" by Krag when all he was trying to do was to protect Cole from the falling bridge.
Krag's Lament
When Cole wakes up, he finds himself in Krag's home. Cole heads for the exit, but retreats and hides from Krag. When Krag enters his cave, Cole strikes him and is able to bury the beast with a massive stalactite.
As Cole explores, he realizes there are bunk beds and burial mounds indicating there were multiple Yeti living inside the cave and they somehow died. When he realizes Krag is the last one, he realizes he made a mistake in fighting him and decides to help him.
Cole realizes he had made a mistake. When Krag pounced on him, he was only trying to save him from a falling bridge. Moreover, he was going to supply him with food before Cole attacked. Due to this, Cole frees Krag from the block of ice and the two become friends with a tight hug.
Subsequent, they still needed to find the Traveler's Tree, so Cole rides on Krag's back as they reach the peak of the mountain. After Cole grabbed some flowers, they descend downwards.
Eventually, Jay and Nya reach Krag's home and spot Krag arriving home with Cole. When they enter the cave, Jay and Nya get into a brawl. Luckily, Cole is able to end the fight and introduces Krag to Jay and Nya. Cole then offers Krag a new home and he gladly accepts.
The ninja and Krag head down the mountain, but Krag stops for a moment and admires his home that he has lived in. He then places a branch into the snow and promises to fight for the Yeti who were killed by Blizzard Samurai.
