These are the relationships of the Titanium Ninja, Zane.

Family[]

Dr. Julien[]

“My creator Dr. Julien once attempted to protect me from feelings of grief by erasing my memory banks. But now, I am beginning to see that emotions, even unpleasant ones, do in fact serve a purpose.”
Th (35)

Zane and Dr. Julien

Dr. Julien is Zane's creator and father. He built Zane years ago and treated him no differently from a human son, and the two were happy in the time they spent together. When Dr. Julien was about to die, he erased Zane's memory to spare him the pain of his loss. When Zane regained this memory, he was sad to recall his father's death but shed a tear with a smile.

In Season 2, they are reunited when it is revealed that Dr. Julien was resurrected by Samukai, and had been imprisoned ever since on an island. Dr. Julien revealed that he wanted to see Zane again, explaining that Samukai used that fact as leverage against him. Zane and the ninja liberated Dr. Julien, and he and Zane promised to spend time together now that fate had given them the chance. Dr. Julien became an ally of the ninja and spent more time with his son, who was happy with his presence.

In Season 3, it is revealed that Dr. Julien passed away again when Cyrus Borg gives Zane his condolences, and Zane accepts them.

In "Day of the Departed," Zane creates an ice statue of Dr. Julien to pay his respects to his father but becomes sad and angry when the ghost of Cryptor destroys it.

In "The Message" and "Corruption," Zane identifies himself as Dr. Julien’s child when he was stranded in the Never-Realm.

Zane and Echo Zane

Although Zane and Echo Zane barely interacted, Echo Zane assisted Jay and Nya in rescuing the ninja. Upon their release from the Djinn Blade, Zane was glad to find out he had a brother. Their meeting never happened due to Jay's final wish, erasing the timeline.

Love Interest[]

P.I.X.A.L.[]

Zane and P.I.X.A.L.

P.I.X.A.L. is Zane's companion/girlfriend.

During Season 3, Zane first encountered P.I.X.A.L. when he and the other ninja arrived at Borg tower. He immediately felt an attraction towards her, as shown by his dazed speech and expression as P.I.X.A.L. (possibly unintentionally) insulted his mechanisms; calling them slow and incompatible. During the conflict with The Overlord, P.I.X.A.L. would be given some of Zane's power source to save her and would begin to feel human emotions with both saying the other was vital to them. Indeed, they would come to the other's aid on many occasions after the Cryptor and the Nindroids attack. Their attraction was noted by a few characters such as Edna, Nya, and Kai, who all express happiness at Zane having found someone so special to him. When Zane sacrificed himself, P.I.X.A.L. was the one who took his death notably hard, to the point where she didn't attend his funeral. Because of this, she would be the first person to see him reconstruct himself in a new updated body, and smiled greatly when he revealed his presence to her in the Borg Industries computers by asking if they were now compatible.

In Season 4, the two were captured and brought to Chen, who held them prisoner on his secluded island to draw out the other ninja. In the early stages of his imprisonment, Zane was amnesiac, and it was P.I.X.A.L. who guided him back to his memories. The return of his memory is signaled by Zane asking P.I.X.A.L. if they are compatible, which she affirms. When Zane broke out, he was disheartened to learn that P.I.X.A.L had been dismantled. Despite P.I.X.A.L.'s urging to leave without her, he refused to abandon her, placing her memory card into his own system and allowing her to continue the journey with him—audible only as a voice inside his head, and visible in his field of vision as a small image on a screen. It was P.I.X.A.L. who helped Zane in conquering his fears and unlocking his dragon.

P.I.X.A.L. would continue offering aid to Zane in his later fights such as with Morro. During Season 6, when Zane came face to face with Nadakhan, P.I.X.A.L. tried to warn him of the consequence, but he ignored her warning. He came to regret his choice when Nadakhan removed her from his processor, which left him distraught at the thought of living without her and forced him to make his last wish for it to go away. Due to Jay's last wish, Zane was reunited with P.I.X.A.L. and would continue to ask for her input in later adventures.

In Season 7, when an attack by Acronix put Zane offline, P.I.X.A.L. expresses worry and tries to wake him. When Zane was reactivated by Nya, he was surprised to find P.I.X.A.L. gone from his head. He later became sad as he realized he was alone.

In Season 8, Zane discovered that P.I.X.A.L. has not only rebuilt herself but that she is also the mysterious Samurai X. Zane realized that P.I.X.A.L. had been discontent in his head, and encouraged her in her new adventures in the physical world, much to her happiness. They promised not to keep any more secrets from each other and reconciled. Later, when they were alone, P.I.X.A.L expressed her desire to be as helpful as she could, and meekly asked Zane if she would be more helpful in the digital world. Zane told her that the choice has always been hers and that he likes to see her like this. In the finale, the pair are separated when Zane is sent to the Realm of Oni and Dragons.

In "Green Destiny," when Zane and the ninja returned to Ninjago, Zane asked for P.I.X.A.L.'s whereabouts and was worried after she was imprisoned. They are reunited when The Resistance breaks out of custody to help the ninja defeat Colossus. He is reunited with P.I.X.A.L. and they share a hug after peace is restored to Ninjago.

In "Corruption," Zane left a message while stranded in the Never-Realm and he gave up hope but not before confessing his love for P.I.X.A.L., showing how much he valued her, which was played back in "The Message."

In "A Fragile Hope," when Lloyd tries to get Zane to remember him, he brings up P.I.X.A.L., but because Vex erased his memories, he doesn't recall her. However, Zane did appear interested in Lloyd's words, since he hesitated on hearing her name.

Zane and P.I.X.A.L. reunited

During "Awakenings," Zane finally remembers her and a happy moment of them together. He then snaps out of his delirium enough to help his friends. When returning home, he was met with a big hug from P.I.X.A.L. who was happy at their reunion.

When Zane's jet was shot down in "Brave But Foolish," P.I.X.A.L. went to search for him, which happens in "Return of the Ice Emperor," she was shocked at seeing Zane having fallen to pieces and stuck in his Ice Emperor persona, and brought him to Cyrus, where, after repairing him in "Compatible," and finding he is unresponsive, P.I.X.A.L. said her goodbyes, calling him 'my Zane', resulting in him waking up.

After The Merge, P.I.X.A.L. was among the ones that were missing, leaving Zane saddened when he came back in the team. He tried to find her by trying to operate the Portal gate and taped a photo of her to a broom and would talk to it as if she were around.

Master Wu[]

“But I already found them.”

Zane and Wu

Zane is one of Wu's students, along with the other ninja. When Zane and the others trained to become ninja, they were shown to really cared about Wu and are glad to have Wu as their master. When Zane is socially outcast at the beginning of the ninja's training altogether, Wu encourages the other ninja to look at Zane as a brother, asking them, "What is 'weird?'" Like the other ninja, Zane respects Wu, who in turn views Zane and the others as his greatest students.

In Season 4, when Zane was restored and saved by the ninja, Wu was relieved to see him alive again and complimented his new form after reuniting with him. The pair worked together in facing the Anacondrai cultists and saving Ninjago from Chen.

In Season 8, it is revealed that the two already met forty years ago and Wu told Zane that he might call upon for something in the near future. Zane couldn't recall this as Julien wiped his memory before his first death.

The ninja later found an infant and after said child starts to do strange things, such as talk and drink tea, they deduce he is Wu. After Nya came up with a theory for their master de-aged because of the Time Blades, Zane believed it was a matter of time until he returned to normal.

During Season 9, while they are stranded in the Realm of Oni and Dragons, Zane is the ninja who notes of Wu's aging and with the others tries to teach him his old lessons to better help him. Zane was later relieved to see his master aged into an adult and regain his memories.

In "Green Destiny," Zane and Wu fought against Garmadon's forces and were victorious in the conflict.

In "Vengeance is Mine!," Zane helps his master in defeating Aspheera. He also intended to give him the staff holding the Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu before he took the blast meant for Wu, sacrificing himself for his master. The blast sent him to the Never-Realm, therefore setting him on the path of becoming the Ice Emperor.

In "A Fragile Hope," when Lloyd tries to get Zane to remember him, he brings up Wu, but because Vex erased his memories, he doesn't recall him.

During "Awakenings," Zane finally remembers his master. He then snaps out of his delirium enough to help his friends. When returning home, he was met with a hug from Wu.

Friends[]

Elemental Master of Ice[]

“He was very thankful, and very intrigued by my son. It's peculiar. Ever since he left, Zane's been acting stranger than usual.”

A decade before the series and sometime before Julien's death, the Elemental Master of Ice met Zane and took shelter in Dr. Julien's workshop. He took an interest in the android and passed on his Elemental Powers, making Zane his successor.

Kai[]

“This isn't about numbers. It's about family.”

Zane and Kai

Like the others, Kai initially thought Zane was odd but grew to care for and defend him even if he didn't totally understand him.

When he learned that Zane was a Nindroid, he and the others supported and accepted their friend. When Zane sacrificed himself to defeat the Digital Overlord, Kai was the one shown delivering his eulogy.

In Season 4, Kai and the others protested Lloyd's idea of replacing Zane on the team, even when he was seemingly destroyed. He was willingly going to risk himself in the Tournament of Elements to find him. After reuniting with Zane, Kai was relieved to see him alive and well before the two worked together to defeat Chen and his forces.

In Season 5, Kai and Zane rarely interacted but Kai still got along, though Kai wasn't ready to follow Zane's leadership as seen when he laughed at Zane's malfunction voice most of the time.

Zane respects Kai as a friend and ninja and usually follows Kai's leadership.

In Skybound, Zane placed his hand on Kai's shoulder to comfort him after Nya was struck with a dart of Tiger Widow venom and succumbed to the effects of the poison before Jay's wish undid everything.

In "A Fragile Hope," when Lloyd tries to get Zane to remember him, he brings up Kai, but because Vex erased his memories, he doesn't recall him. However, he questioned Kai's name and heard Lloyd's story out.

During "Awakenings," Zane finally remembers him and their adventures together. He then snaps out of his delirium enough to help his friends.

In "Trial By Mino," Zane assisted Kai in being Chancellor and helped him to gain the trust of the Geckles.

In "Elements of Betrayal," Zane was happy to see Kai back as he immediately ran to hug him.

Jay[]

“He's just making a joke, Zane. Remember what we talked about? Your sense of humor? Huh?”
“Yes, it was a joke. Haha.”

Zane and Jay

Prior to Kai joining the team, it is implied that Zane and Jay were close with Jay giving Zane tips of his sense of humor. Like all the other ninja, he complained that Zane was weird at first. But when he found out that Zane was Nindroid, he and the others supported and accepted their friend. Jay was even the one to give Zane (and other androids like him) the name “Nindroid”. They grew close through the series, with Jay being devastated by Zane's sacrifice to defeat the Overlord, to the point that Wu needed to hold Jay back from running after him.

In Season 4, Jay protested Lloyd's decision to replace Zane, but when he learned that Zane was alive, he set out with the others to locate him. While imprisoned by Chen, Jay was reunited with Zane being elated to see his friend again and complimented his new form. Jay later marveled at Zane's ability to summon an Elemental Dragon, inspiring him to do so himself.

Screenshot (3150)

Jay and Zane singing.

In later seasons, they get along even if their personalities contrast with the others. Zane appears to take note of Jay's habits as he knew Nadakhan visited him and saw that he was acting out of the ordinary.

During Season 9, Jay's accepting of being stranded in the Realm of Oni and Dragons disturbed Zane. After Jay became himself again, Zane was relieved and noted this to Kai.

During "Awakenings," Zane finally remembers him and their adventures together. He then snaps out of his delirium enough to help his friends.

Years after The Merge, Zane decided to stay at the Monastery and locate P.I.X.A.L. and the other ninja, who they didn't reunite with yet.

S2E14 SorryNotGoodEnough

Zane reunited with an amnesiac Jay.

In "Inside the Maze," Zane was surprised to see Jay fighting on Ras's team during the Tournament of the Sources. Zane was very speechless upon seeing Jay and watch as his friend attack Nya, even used a Wolf Mask to shatter his goodness, loosing Jay to evil. In "United We Fall", Zane and the others angrily confronted Ras and demanded him to release Jay, only for Ras to tell them that he already sent Jay away. Despite loosing his powers to Zur, Zane choose to help the Ninja on their mission on the deaths of the Arc Dragons.

Cole[]

Zane and Cole

Like the others, Cole was put off at first by Zane's personality but grew to be his friend like all the rest. When he found out Zane was a Nindroid, he was the first to offer comfort, stating that he's still the same Zane, he's "just got more . . . gears" and later affectionately nicknaming him "Tin Can."

In Season 4, Cole and the others were adamant about not replacing Zane on the team, but that argument was cut short when they spotted a poster that claimed he was still alive, prompting them to enter Chen's element fighting tournament to find him. After Cole was eliminated, he was the first to find Zane, he was amazed by Zane's new form as the latter was happy to see his friend again. They immediately worked together and broke free, reuniting with a hug, and Cole was amazed by Zane's new capabilities as they eluded Clouse's pet Anacondrai serpent. However, due to Cole's promise of breaking the other Elemental Masters out of Chen's grasp, he implored Zane to leave while he went back. To his surprise, Zane decided to help him, telling Cole that ninjas never leave one another behind. After a series of plans, they were successful in liberating the captives and joined their allies in defeating Chen.

When Cole was turned into a ghost, Zane tried to relate with him since he was not human either. His and the other ninja's encouragement somewhat helped, as Cole saved them from Morro on their way to the Cloud Kingdom.

In "Day of the Departed," Zane and the others were very happy that Cole was fine and became a human again.

During Season 7 and 8, they still get along well and work together in missions such as when Cole tried to help restore Zane after his fight with the Time Twins and when they tried to infiltrate the Sons of Garmadon.

During "Awakenings," Zane finally remembers him and their adventures together. He then snaps out of his delirium enough to help his friends. When returning home, he was met with a big hug.

After the Kingdom of Imperium was freed, Cole went back to Ninjago and met up with Zane, who revealed that the wolf warriors were working for Ras to bring back the Forbidden Five. Zane and Cole learned about Bonzle's past and why Ras needed her for the Ritual of the Blood Moon, leading them to embark on a journey to Mysterium in search of Gandalaria. Before they could defeat Dorama with Bonzle's help, they were stopped, and later, they found Gandalaria. Despite their victory against the Administration Agents, their search for the magical storagehouse so they could protect Bonzle was unsuccessful as Jordana captured Bonzle and imprisoned Zane, Cole, and Gandalaria in an electro cage. While trying to rescue Bonzle, they managed to save the Cloud Kingdom and the Cloud Monks from being destroyed.

Lloyd[]

“Thank you, Lloyd.”
Explorers club

Zane and Lloyd

Lloyd and Zane are good friends throughout the series, with Zane initially acting as a mentor, then more and more as an equal friend. Lloyd and the other ninja really missed Zane after he sacrificed himself to defeat the Overlord.

In Season 4, Lloyd worked hard to help the other ninja move on, even suggesting they find a new addition to the team, but he stopped when the ninja discovered Zane was alive and set out to find him. While dueling Chen's forces, Lloyd was happy that they finally rescued their friend, Zane telling him it was good to be back. After Chen launched his invasion, Lloyd used the loss of Zane as motivation to keep strong and as a sign that everything would be alright.

Afterward, the two continue to get along with Zane wanting to save Lloyd from Morro and tending to his weakened friend after the ghost left his body.

In the Season 8 finale and most of Season 9, the friends are separated when Zane is sent to the Realm of Oni and Dragons.

Zane was the first ninja to willingly give up his Elemental Power to save Lloyd in "Big Trouble, Little Ninjago."

In "Green Destiny," when Zane and the ninja have returned to Ninjago, they were quick to save Lloyd and his group from the Sons of Garmadon and was happy to see their friends again. Zane was later happy to see Lloyd has defeated his father and regained his powers in the process.

During "Secret of the Wolf," Zane appeared to recall Lloyd when hearing Vex call him the "stranger in green." However, he decided to dispose of him at Vex's request.

In "My Enemy, My Friend," when Lloyd was brought before the Ice Emperor, he was shocked to discover that the Ice Emperor, who was responsible for the attack on the Formlings, was Zane.

In "A Fragile Hope," Lloyd tries to get Zane to remember him, but because Vex erased his memories, he doesn't remember him. However, Zane did appear interested in Lloyd's words and had the latter imprisoned instead of executed as Vex desired.

During "Awakenings," Zane and Lloyd fought while he attempted to get through to him. Zane defeated him, though he couldn’t finish him. However, he finally remembers Lloyd and their adventures together. He then snaps out of his delirium enough to save him from Vex.

Nya[]

“What? What is on my back?”
Nya and Zane, "The Forgotten Element"

Zane and Nya

Nya and Zane get along very well and are friends throughout the series. In Season 4, Nya was sad about Zane's apparent death, but, when searching for the other ninja, was surprised to detect Zane's recon beacon. When she found the ninja on Chen's Island, she immediately ran to hug the newly rebuilt Zane, relieved that he was back.

In Season 5, Zane was pleased with Nya being the team's new addition. He was amazed by her defeating The Preeminent.

In Season 6, when Nya was struck with Tiger Widow venom, Zane was sad at her death, but fortunately, these events were undone due to Jay's last wish.

In Season 7, when Zane was attacked by Krux and Acronix, she worked very hard to restore him after he spent a while unconscious. Nya was successful in awakening Zane and was relieved to have him back in action.

During "Dread on Arrival", Zane was seen saving Nya from getting blown away by the wind caused by harumi's attempt to resurrect Garmadon.

In Season 8, they still get along and are good friends. During the Season 8 finale, the friends are separated when Zane is sent to the Realm of Oni and Dragons.

In "Green Destiny," when Zane and the ninja have returned to Ninjago, Zane and the others were quick to save Nya and her group from the Sons of Garmadon and was happy to see them again.

During "Awakenings," Zane finally remembers her and a happy moment of them together. He then snaps out of his delirium enough to help his friends.

When Nya sacrificed herself to save Ninjago from Wojira in "The Turn of the Tide", Zane along with the other ninja were deeply saddened and paid his final respects at her memorial. Additionally because of the loss of Nya, Zane chooses to turn off his emotion meter briefly in order for his grief to not cloud his productivity.

Arin (formerly)[]

“I knew Lloyd wouldn’t listen when I told him Master Wu caused the Merge. I just knew it.”
“Arin, that information is a lot to process.”
“What’s to process? Your teacher disrupted all the realms. He caused my parents to disappear.”
Arin and Zane, “Elements of Betrayal
ShoveArin

Arin was one of Lloyd's ninja students. Arin once attempted to have Zane's hairstyle, but apparently, did not go well. When Arin told Zane that Master Wu caused the Merge, Zane found it hard to process.

After Arin betrayed the ninja to join Ras when they went through a portal gate, which blew up, Zane showed concern for Arin.

Sora[]

Sora is one of Lloyd's ninja students. They first met when they were escaping through the Imperium Monastery. During the Tournament of the Sources, Zane had been supporting Sora when she was competing.

Wyldfyre[]

“Elemental powers have no impact on these spirits!”
“Your powers are just weak!”
— Zane and Wyldfyre, "The Temple of the Dragon Cores"

Wyldfyre is Kai's student. They had little interaction, apart from him breaking up a fight between her and Kai, as well as being insulted by her when he wasn't able to hit the Spirit of the Temple.

Alfonzo Frohicky[]

The Last Djinn (462)
“When installing the alignment coil in a positronic matrix, one must first allow the coil to depressurize before it will perform optimally.”
“I understood none of that.”
“All things have an adjustment period. You are new to the monastery. Allow yourself time to depressurize. Once you do, I'm sure you'll be an excellent Assistant Keeper of the Monastery.”
“You really think so? I won't be the worst Assistant Keeper of all time?”
“Since there has never been an Assistant Keeper before, technically, you are already the worst. And the best of all time. But either way, you are certainly worthy of being part of the team.”
— Zane and Alfonzo Frohicky, "The Last Djinn"

When Alfonzo became Assistant Keeper, Zane was a little uncomfortable when he tried giving him brewed tea with flies in it and a bucket of ice. After he made a mess of the monastery and intended to leave, Zane managed to stop him and said it was an adjustment, and eventually he'll get use to it. He entrusted Alfonzo to look after the Pink Dragon Core before having him bring it over to stop the MergeQuake Storm.

A year later, as the other ninja departed from the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Zane and Alfonzo opted to remain behind in case of emergencies. When Alfonzo attempted to decorate the portal gate, Zane advised against it due the gates mystic energies. Despite Alfonzo's initial reluctance, he eventually relented and stopped blocking the gate. Two Wolf Mask Claw Warriors appeared, prompting Zane and Cole to team up against them while Alfonzo and the Finders sought cover. After defeating the warriors, Zane, Cole, and Alfonzo escorted the Finders back to the Monastery. Zane and Cole then set off on a journey to Mysterium, leaving Alfonzo and the Finders behind at the Monastery.

Bonzle[]

“Bonzle is gone too. It appears she used the last of her magic to battle Jordana and close the gate.”
Zane about Bonzle, "Rising Ninja"

Zane's initial encounter with Bonzle occurred when Cole and Finders used a portal gate to travel to Ninjago and rescue Bonzle from the Wolf Mask Claw Warriors. Afterwards, Bonzle shared her backstory with Zane, Cole, and the Finders, explaining why Ras sought her for the Ritual of the Blood Moon. Together, Zane, Cole, Bonzle, and Jiro journeyed to Mysterium to seek protection for Bonzle from her creator, Gandalaria. They successfully located Gandalaria and later confronted the Administration Agents, who desired Zane's return to have him destroyed. Zane, Cole, Jiro, and Gandalaria then ventured into the Wyldness in search of the magical storagehouse to safeguard Bonzle. Unfortunately, their efforts were in vain as Jordana, using her magic, located and captured Bonzle, as well as trapping Zane, Cole, and Gandalaria. Following Ras' defeat, Zane believed that Bonzle had been destroyed after using her remaining magic to close the portal. Zane spoke highly of Bonzle as they all highlighted the positive aspects of her character.

Gandalaria[]

Zane's initial encounter with Gandalaria occurred at the Monastery of Mysterium, where he, Cole, and Bonzle sought the latter's protection from Ras. When the Administration Agents arrived, Cole, Gandalaria, and Bonzle were surprised by their demand for Zane's return. However, Zane preemptively explained that he had been kidnapped and forced to work in the Administration mail room. Despite Zane's explanation, Gandalaria became angry with him for inadvertently attracting the Administration Agents. After the Agents finished their paperwork, they attacked Zane, Cole, Bonzle, and Gandalaria, with Allen almost killing Zane before being defeated by Zane hacking the Agents' mechs. Following the battle, the group continued their journey to the Wyldness to find the magical storagehouse to protect Bonzle, but their efforts were thwarted by Jordana, who trapped them in an electro cage. Zane managed to deactivate the cage, and together with Cole and Gandalaria, they searched for a way to save Bonzle. Their quest led them to the Cloud Kingdom, where they successfully saved the Cloud Monks and prevented the kingdom's destruction, despite Bonzle's absence.

Allies[]

Vex (formerly)[]

“Are we friends?”
“Most certainly. I am your loyal advisor.”
Zane and Vex, after the latter removes his memories, "Corruption"
20191127 111041 rmscr

Vex was Zane's second-in-command as the Ice Emperor. Now Zane sees him as an enemy, for controlling him for decades.

It was mentioned in "The Last of the Formlings," Vex was the one who found Zane when he arrived in the Never-Realm. Vex was amazed by Zane's power of Ice and allied with him.

It is fully revealed in "Corruption" that Vex found Zane after he first arrived in his realm and observed him from afar. It also turns out that while Zane was rebooting the mech's system, Vex tried to dispose of Zane but realized he couldn't as he lacked the power to use the Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu. He instead removed the plug to the mech, erasing Zane's memories, and claimed to the now amnesiac Zane that he is his faithful advisor. Vex proclaimed Zane as the Ice Emperor and used Zane to overthrow Grimfax and establish his rule over the realm.

As seen in "The Never-Realm," Vex always seems to be using Zane by nudging him in a certain direction. This is evidenced when he convinced Zane to kill the ninja and those who are helping them.

However, he seems to respect all of Zane’s decisions like when Zane chose to spare Grimfax and unleash Boreal to freeze the Great Lake, something that Vex didn’t think of nor suggested.

In "Awakenings," Vex tried to persuade Zane to destroy Lloyd but the latter couldn’t and Vex tried to do it himself and commented on how the Green Ninja couldn’t save anyone. This unknowingly caused Zane to regain all of his memories. Having seen Vex for the monster he was, Zane stopped him from killing Lloyd. This shocked Vex at seeing Zane was himself again before he was knocked away. Infuriated, Vex attempted to kill Zane but was frozen by him in revenge for his manipulations. Not long after, Vex was banished to the outskirts of the realm for what he did.

Grimfax (formerly)[]

“You will atone for this.”
Zane to Grimfax after the latter failed to destroy the ninja and the Ice Fishers, "Secret of the Wolf"
Screenshotter--NEW1127-10’12”

Zane overthrows Grimfax.

Grimfax is one of Zane's former soldiers as the Ice Emperor.

As seen in "Corruption," after Zane lost his memory and became manipulated by Vex, he overthrew Grimfax and forced him into servitude. Grimfax complied after seeing Zane's power. This allowed Zane to become the Ice Emperor, with Grimfax as one of his soldiers.

Grimfax follows Zane's orders, as seen when he attacked the Great Lake and fought the ninja. Grimfax also fears Zane, since he got scared at the latter nearly punishing him for failing his mission. However, he was relieved when Zane gave him another chance.

During "A Fragile Hope," Grimfax listens to Lloyd’s stories about him and Zane together, learning he was previously a good man. Acting on this, Grimfax freed Lloyd and Kataru, while siding with Lloyd to try and destroy his scepter. The group formed The Resistance.

In "Awakenings," their plan succeeded with Zane recovering his memories and destroying it. Afterward, Zane and Grimfax may have put their differences aside since it was Vex's fault that he usurped Grimfax. Zane becoming his old self again also allowed Grimfax to return to its rightful place on his throne.

Boreal[]

“I shall unleash Boreal! Boreal shall punish the village.”

Boreal was Zane's Ice Dragon that was created by Zane's Elemental Powers.

After taking over the Never-Realm, Zane decided to create Boreal for unknown reasons.

In "Secret of the Wolf," when Zane learned that the ninja and Ice Fishers survived their battle with the Blizzard Samurai, Zane decided to have Boreal freeze the Great Lake to exact revenge.

In "A Fragile Hope," it was revealed that Boreal showed greatness to Zane, as Kataru implied that he was kidnapped by Boreal as a prize for Zane.

Blizzard Samurai (formerly for the Blizzard Warriors)[]

“Send my Ice Samurai. Command them to destroy the strangers.”
20191021 082207 rmscr

The Blizzard Samurai were Zane's creations as the Ice Emperor; he created the Blizzard Sword Masters and the Blizzard Archers out of Ice and Snow. He also corrupted Grimfax's army into Blizzard Warriors. Due to the samurai being made by his Ice, he has complete control over them and they follow his orders without hesitation, however, the Blizzard Warriors have little more free mind than the other samurai due to the fact that they were merely corrupted by Zane and his forces, not created by him. After regaining his memories and destroying his scepter, the Blizzard Warriors were brought back to their original states while the Sword Masters and Archers were destroyed.

Enemies[]

“Then I give up.”

Cryptor was Zane's clone and servant of The Overlord.

Cryptor constantly mocked Zane for being outdated and Zane often lost in their matches. When Zane sacrificed himself, he destroyed Cryptor in the process as well, ending his terror.

During the Day of the Departed, a resurrected Cryptor sought to kill Zane and destroyed a statue Zane made of his father. Zane was surprised to see him again and now having a more updated body, he showed himself to be more than a match for undead Nindroid. Zane soon defeated him with tactical thinking and watched as he returned to the Departed Realm.

Zane first learned of the Dark Lord at the Ninjago Museum of History when Misako told the ninja the story of the Overlord, and later journeyed to the Dark Island in order to stop the Overlord and Garmadon from making the Final Battle a reality.

The Ninja of Ice also detested the Overlord for taking control of his love interest, P.I.X.A.L., by hacking into her systems and forcing her to create an army of Nindroids in order to do his bidding. Later on, Zane would sacrifice himself to stop the Golden Master's tyrannical rule by shooting a massive blast of Ice that would result in both of their demises.

Years following the Nindroid crisis, the Overlord would emerge again as the Crystal King, and Zane would took part in the Resistance opposing him and his Crystal army. The White Ninja would shoot missiles at the Crystal Temple in his Golden Dragon Jet, in an attempt to destroy the flying fortress, but to no avail.

Chen[]

“Jay is correct. I was Chen's captive when you first went to his temple.”
— Zane to Kai, "Shadow of Ronin"

Chen was Zane's abductor and adversary.

After defeating The Overlord, Chen had Zane (as well as P.I.X.A.L.) abducted once he rebuilt himself.

Because of Chen, Zane was stripped of his powers while held captive on Chen's Island for most of the early rounds during Tournament of Elements. When Zane's friends arrived, he was freed and aided his friends in facing Chen and his cultists who transformed into Anacondrai. Zane watched them being banished to the Cursed Realm after Garmadon's sacrifice.

Nadakhan[]

Playing Minidroid Chess against Nadakhan

Nadakhan was one of Zane's adversaries.

Nadakhan impersonated Zane and his friends while framing the ninja for crimes they didn't commit and they were locked away in Kryptarium Prison for. Zane gained a vendetta against his foe for this, which was well reciprocated on Nadakhan's since he learned of the destruction of his world, which occurred because of the ninja's victory over The Preeminent and destroyed the Cursed Realm (the twin realm of his).

After the ninja's escape, he sought them out to trap them in his sword and get stronger. Zane and Nadakhan first meet on a boat, Zane wasn't surprised to see him and deduced that he appeared to Jay before. They engage in a game of chess, while Zane assured the Djinn that he wouldn't be his next victim. He found a worthy adversary in Zane because of his strategy and noted how he gave him a challenge until he defeated him by deleting P.I.X.A.L..

In the end, Zane broke free and helps his friends in stopping the Djinn from destroying Ninjago at the end of season six. Nadakhan's actions were undone by Jay's final wish to restore Ninjago that caused Nadakhan to be trapped again. It is unknown if Zane has regained his memories of him since he had experienced deja vu on the matters.

Against Mr. E

Mr. E was one of Zane's rivals.

When Zane first saw Mr. E, he saved him from the other ninja and gained his trust. However, when Mr. E was blamed by Killow after finding out that Zane was actually one of the ninja, he tries to kill Zane but only for the latter to find out that he's actually a Nindroid. During the time when Harumi tried to resurrect Garmadon Zane faced against Mr. E again, but this time Zane managed to easily overpower Mr. E.

Akita (formerly)[]

During his time as the Ice Emperor, Zane attacked the Village of the Formlings under Vex's coaxing by using Boreal, leaving Akita and her brother Kataru the only survivors, and Akita developed a grudge against him as a result. Decades later, Akita encounters him in his chambers and he assumes she was after his scepter.

They briefly fight, as Zane learned she wanted revenge for the Formlings before Lloyd barges in to try and bring his friend back to his senses. Learning that he was his friend, Akita nonetheless still didn't hesitate to try and kill him but ended up frozen as a result.

Upon regaining his memories and destroying his scepter, Zane released her and the Formlings. He and Akita may have put their differences aside since it was Vex's fault that he froze her village.[1]

Kataru (formerly)[]

During his time as the Ice Emperor, Zane attacked the Village of the Formlings under Vex's coaxing by using Boreal, leaving him and his sister Akita the only survivors with Kataru brought to the dungeons of the Castle of Ice where he spent decades inside.

Upon learning that he used to be good, Kataru sided with Lloyd to try and destroy his scepter, which succeeded with Zane recovering his memories and destroying it. Afterward, Zane and Kataru may have put their differences aside since it was Vex's fault that he froze his village.

Administration Agents[]

“Cole, have I mentioned that I was briefly kidnapped by a society of bureaucrats from the Land of Madness who forced me to work in their mail room, where I introduced the efficiencies that raised delivery accuracy by nine percent?”

Zane first met the Administration Agents when he was fervently working on activating the portal gate of Ninjago, a task that piqued the interest of Roderick Allen and Underwood, leading them to take Zane away and restrain him in handcuffs within the Administration. It was there that one of the managers decided to assign Zane to the mail room for his efforts, where introduced mail efficiencies that raised delivery accuracy by nine percent. Fortunately, Lloyd and Arin orchestrated a rescue mission to liberate Zane from his predicament. Despite the Administration Agents' attempts to thwart Lloyd, Arin, and Zane's escape, their efforts were in vain. This chain of events led to Zane become a fugitive of the Administration.

A year later, Zane, Cole, and Bonzle passed through the Realm of Madness during their journey to Mysterium, where they were detected by the Administration Agents. When Zane and his friends came to Gandalaria to protect Bonzle from the Wolf Clan, the situation escalated as the Administration Agents intervened, aiming to apprehend Zane for his transgression. Despite Zane's voluntary surrender, he was shock to learn the agents' intent to destroy him since he's deemed as mere equipment rather than a living being. The jeopardy extended to Cole, Bonzle, and Gandalaria, who faced the threat of annihilation for aiding a fugitive. Zane told that they need forms and the Administration Agents accepted. Once they were done, the agents launched a brazen assault to end Zane at all costs. During the fight, Zane hacked into the agents' formidable mechs, eliciting a violent attack that nearly claimed his life at Roderick's hands. Yet, Gandalaria's intervene by using her crystal ball to revitalize Zane. Zane successfully ejected the Administration Agents from their mechs, including Roderick.
