Zarkt is a member of the Forbidden Five and the Elemental Master of Misfortune. For millennia, he and his fellow members were imprisoned in the Nether-Space. During the Ritual of the Blood Moon, Ras planned to liberate all five members as part of his grand scheme by having them compete in the Tournament of the Sources; however, his efforts were only partially successful, resulting in the release of Nokt and inadvertently, Rox's soul, while Zarkt, Drix, and Kur remained imprisoned.
Throughout the Tournament of the Sources, Zarkt and his companions managed to establish a form of communication with Nokt and Rox while they were in pursuit of Kai and Bonzle. Ultimately, at the tournament's conclusion, Nokt succeeded in liberating Zarkt and the rest, albeit in a weakened state due to the method of their release. Together, Zarkt and the other four used a portal gate to escape to the Cloud Kingdom, subsequently destroying the portal gate to ensure their transition to a different realm.
History
Background
Initially an average Elemental Master from the Wyldness, Zarkt would eventually rise to prominence as a member of the Forbidden Five, a coalition formed with four other Elemental Masters. This alliance led to the formation of the Wolf Clan. Together, they developed ancient combat techniques and magical practices, which they imparted to the wolf warriors, leading the Wolf Clan into a golden age.[2] However, the very powers that Zarkt and the Forbidden Five had cultivated began to corrupt them, eroding the inherent goodness within them and transforming the clan into agents of chaos.[3][4] Using Shatterspin, they wreaked havoc across the Wyldness, asserting their dominance through destruction, compelling the inhabitants to either submit to their rule or be killed.[5]
One day at the Shadow Dojo, Zarkt and rest of the Forbidden Five learned a grim aftermath of Nokt's recent campaign against a tiger tribe, where a survivor named Zarkar lamented the cruelty of their actions, only to be met with derisive laughter from Zarkt and his allies. As Nokt and Rox urged the group to extend their reign of terror into other realms,[5] a path that would ultimately lead to destruction for all,[6] they were unexpectedly challenged by the Dragon Masters. Using Rising Dragon, the Dragon Masters effectively countered the Forbidden Five's Shatterspin, leading to their defeat and subsequent banishment to the Nether-Space through a powerful spell for millennia.[7]
Rising Ninja
During the Ritual of the Blood Moon, when Jordana opened the gateway to the Nether-Space, Zarkt and the rest of the Forbidden Five gathered before the portal and watched as Nokt stepped forward to await a sacrifice.
Inside the Maze
Zarkt contacted Nokt and Rox, voicing his frustration over the delay as he remained stuck in Nether-Space. He pressed them to act quickly, highlighting that liberating the remaining members of the Forbidden Five would enable their merciless rule to resume without delay.
The Sword Shatters
Zarkt got into an argument with Kur (which he physically started by shoving the latter) before Drix stepped in and broke up the fight. The three then left the area, with Zarkt and Kur carrying Rox's soulless body (since she had escaped by transferring her soul into Jordana during the Ritual of the Blood Moon).
The Final Game
While communicating with Nokt and Rox, Kai and Bonzle tried to sneak around the three. Kai accidentally kicked a rock, alerting them. Zarkt looked around the area but the two managed to stay out of sight. After this, Zarkt continued to communicate with Nokt and Rox.
Elements of Betrayal
Despite some interference from the ninja, Roby and Ras, Nokt is able to free Zarkt and the other members of the Forbidden Five, as well as Rox's physical body, from the Nether-Space. However, he and the others were weakened from the corrupted method used to bring them out. Zarkt soon recovered and the Forbidden Five fled through a portal gate leading to the Cloud Kingdom, but the gate collapsed and sent them somewhere else.
Personality
Zarkt, like the rest of the Forbidden Five, is an evil being who has no empathy towards his enemies as seen while he and the others mockingly laughed at Zarkar when the latter was emotionally shocked after losing the majority of his tribe to them and their destructive power. He is also shown to be impatient and aggressive as he was the only one of the trapped Five complaining during their exile in the Nether-Space, ordering Nokt and Rox to hurry and find a way to free them. This is further proven when he and Kur get into an argument and he starts shoving the latter before being calmed down by Drix.
